Alan H. Jordan

Thank you for visiting

I write spiritual books, self-help books, childrens’ books, business books and novels. If you’re interested in knowing more about me, I’ve included some information about me immediately below the picture of my e-books that are available on the Kindle.

Meanwhile, I invite you to explore some of my Kindle books.

Buy Once, Read Everywhere

Kindle books can be read on your Kindle, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, Mac, PC, or web browser with Amazon’s free Kindle Reading Apps.

12 of Alan H. Jordan's books are available as Kindle and nook editions, including children's books, books on living, death, grief processing, spirituality and self improvement

I write to thrill readers

One of the reasons that I’m so excited about putting out books in Kindle and nook formats is that I can do things with the on-line books that are just not possible with printed books.  For example, I Am Here, Dad; Can You Feel Me, Mom?; and Zoey’s Letter to a Soul, contain full color photographs taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray Observatory.  I inserted hyperlinks in the books so that when you click on the links you go right to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) web page that provides full details about the picture.  That’s impossible to do with a printed book, and readers are excited when they have the opportunity to explore what they want to explore in detail with just a click of their mouse!

I write for love

Much of my writing is for love.  For example, my children’s book The Monster on Top of the Bed was written because I wanted a way to pass on my strongest beliefs and values to a grandchild, just in case I should pass away before my daughter got pregnant and had a child.

I write to make sense of life

I write many poems, plays, short stories and books without being concerned about making money from them because they help me to make sense of life.  Two examples are Relax, Rejoice & Rejuvenate, Volume I and Constructive Questions & Humorous Insights About Life. The first is a book of affirmations.  The latter contains many questions that I asked myself over a period of over 20 years, the answers to which have greatly improved my life.  I write for the thrill of writing

To be perfectly honest, writing could be considered an addiction with me.  True, it’s a socially accepted, even positive addition (there’s an oxymoron for you) but an addiction, nevertheless.  Many times, it’s all about writing, not about marketing.  I have written hundreds of things that were not commercially viable, but that I feel have value.

Value and friendship pricing

The world is changing, and it’s now possible to share my writing through platforms like Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s nook.  This idea appeals to me because it means that people can search out one of my books on an arcane subject, and for less than $5.00 get a copy instantly, instead of spending $12.95 to $20.00 in a bookstore.

Over the years, I’ve written about 50 manuscripts that will share with you, as e-books using Kindle, nook and other platforms.  After much research, I’ve decided to make many of them available for what I call friendship pricing–$.99 to $4.99.  The idea is to make it easy for you to become a friend even though we’ve never met my buying many of my books, and getting to know me.  I feel that for $.99 to  $4.95, it’s easy for you to take a chance on one book.  I trust that if you like one book, you’ll be motivated to buy more than one, possibly all of them.  After all, you can buy 10 or 15 of my e-books for less than the price of one of my hardcover books in a bookstore.

An e-x-p-a-n-d-e-d invitation

Now that you know a little more about me, I once again invite you to buy one or more of my books, and I’ll go one step further, and provide ways that we can touch base with each other.  I hope that you’ll tell me what you value about my writing, and what you’d like to see in the future.  I also hope that you’ll express any issues that you may have.  Don’t be shy.  If something bothers you, it will probably bother someone else too.

A little bit of background

I am a professional writer and computer programmer.  Much of my writing is for companies and governmental units.  As an example, I’ve documented the computer systems of major companies, ghost written speeches for executives and created many presentations for clients that range from small companies to state governments.  My consulting clients include companies like Hewlett-Packard, VISA International, Dade-Behring, Synthes, Bell Atlantic, Group I, LLC; GMAC Mortgage; and Intuit.  As a Management Analyst for the State of Nevada, I’ve done a lot of writing as well as database development.  My writing appeals to kids because I remain a kid at heart.  My writing and programming appeals to grownups because I frequently pull rabbits out of a hat, and come up with out-of-the-box solutions.

Alan Jordan received a grant from the Nevada Arts Council

I received a grant from the Nevada Arts Council to support me in my writing.  I’m proud of that because grants are hard to come by in today’s economy.

More about the Kindle

The Kindle is amazing.  People who read books on it love the experience.  For years, I was not interested in the device for one simple reason:  color is important to me.  Then, suddenly, it hit me–I can read a Kindle book in full color, just by using an app on my phone on on my computer, or the new Kindle Fire, which is full color. Better yet, I can read a Kindle book on my phone, or on a Kindle, and go back and forth between the different devices at will.  Some of the Kindle devices include:

  • Kindle for PC
  • Kindle for Mac
  • Kindle for iPad
  • Kindle for iPhone
  • Kindle for Android
  • Kindle for BlackBerry
  • Kindle for Windows Phone

Visit my Kindle Book page

Visit The Monster on Top of the Bed site – A children’s book that is available in a variety of forms–paperback, hardback, CD, Kindle books, multi-media e-books. Synopsis: Sometimes things aren’t always what they seem and when the monster fears the child, we come to see a different perspective on misunderstandings and ignorance.  As well, we learn that not everything we say is what it actually means, when Karrit explains to Suzy that certain things she says and does, frightens him.

Together the two work out their differences and a friendship forms and a new light is shed upon them both when they realize that maybe they aren’t so different from each other after all.
