Coming Soon:  Reaching Out

About the book

One thing is for certain, teenagers and mature adults will discuss this book of poetry for three reasons:

1. The poetry is semi-controversial, exploring aspects of life that are often unspoken.

2.  The artwork is breathtaking.

3. All of the poems in this collection were written to the artwork of one very talented artist, Daniel Donnelly.

About the Illustrator

Daniel Donnelly resides in California. His artwork features “texture and decay.”

Daniel Donnelly is the Chair of the Digital Art and Design program at Butte College located in northern California.

He has designed and authored nine design books for Rockport Publishers, including “In Your Face: The Best of Interactive Interface Designs”, and seven other books focused on typography, Flash animation, and interface design.

Distinguishing Factors

Poetry books for abound, but there’s not that many that really hit home with teenagers as well as adults.

Semi-controversial subjects abound within Reaching Out. If you’re looking for a book that you can give to teenagers that will start discussions, consider buying it for them.  You can purchased an e-book edition that they can read on a Kindle, nook, or any computer or modern smartphone (iPhone, Android, Windows phones, etc.)  The colors of the artwork are particularly vivid in the iPad, iPhone, Droid, free PC and Mac apps and the Kindle Fire.

Like Ellen Hopkin’s work (Crank, Burned, Identical,  Glass, Flirting with the Monster, Tricks, Impulse, Fallout, Triangles) Jordan’s poetry is brash at times and can be a platform for discussion on life issues that impact upon teenagers. Unlike Hopkins, this book is based on artwork.  Ellen Hopkins on Amazon
